Biodiversity Assessment
Launch your biodiversity projects
Do you have biodiversity projects in mind? An assessment is essential to secure funding for your initiatives and ground your action plan in science. Since 100% of the process is eligible for grants, make sure to take full advantage.
Biodiversity and its context
Quebec's Biodiversity Strategy
On October 7, 2024, the federal government introduced its 2030 Nature Strategy to meet the targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
It outlines the actions required to achieve the goal of protecting 30% of lands and waters by 2030.
The strategy is built on three core pillars:
– Protecting and restoring biodiversity;
– Encouraging sustainable practices;
– Fostering inclusive participation.

The current situation
Looking to take action for biodiversity? Here is our roadmap.
The Fonds Écoleader subsidizes biodiversity initiatives up to $75,000 per project. Here is our process to ensure success:
Initial meeting to explain how it works and discuss your projects.
We assess eligibility on our end and budget the plan so everything is clear for you.
We submit the application for the biodiversity assessment (required to secure grants) and the action plan.
Once approved by the Fund, we begin the assessment.
The action plan will include your eligible priority projects.
We offer to coordinate and support implementation.
We submit a new application to fund further projects.
Get your biodiversity assessment funded
We support Canadian businesses and organizations in measuring their CO2 emissions. All our clients receive personalized guidance to secure optimal funding, actionable recommendations, and reliable data to share with their stakeholders.

Assessment Metrics Summary
| METRIC | DESCRIPTION | CLIMATE CHANGE | NATURAL RESOURCE USE | POLLUTION | INVASIVE ALIEN SPECIES | LAND-USE CHANGE |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CARBON FOOTPRINT | Measurement of the company's impact on climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions | |||||
| WATER FOOTPRINT | Use of water resources, including wastewater discharges and water withdrawals. | |||||
| MATERIAL FOOTPRINT | Quantity of materials required for the company's activities. Includes the volume of waste generated by activity type and the company's plastic consumption. | |||||
| SPATIAL FOOTPRINT | Surface area controlled by the company and breakdown of activities across these areas (conserved, restored, sustainably managed, exploited,...) | |||||
| LIGHT AND NOISE POLLUTION | Impact, duration, and frequency of light and noise pollution sources controlled by the company. | |||||
| POLLUTANT EMISSION QUANTITIES | Non-GHG pollutant emissions such as particulate matter (PM2.5 or PM10); Nitrogen oxides (NO2, NO, and NO3); Volatile organic compounds (VOC or NMVOC); Sulfur oxides (SO2, SO, SO3, SOX); Ammonia (NH3) |
